ART 300 Final Project

Growth and success do not happen overnight; they take time and effort, sometimes over the course of many years. Through my struggles with perfectionism and anxiety, I have learned to see the beautiful moments that have contributed to my ongoing development as a resilient, confident individual. This series explores the concept of growth over time. Growth is portrayed by wildflowers, which I have nurtured from seeds over the course of the semester. In the photographs, you can see the non-linear progression of the flowers blooming, emphasizing life’s ups and downs. These wildflower photographs are paired with photographs of sunrises and sunsets, referencing the cyclical passage of time. Sunrises and sunsets are an everyday occurrence and I photographed them from my front and back yards respectively. This routine emphasizes the seeming banality of the progress of growth; you may not realize how much you are moving forward, but it is still happening every day.
